From 4 to 6 September 2015, Brussels Park (Parc de Bruxelles, Warandepark) will host the 6th edition of the Brussels Comic Strip Festival. Last year, the event attracted 100,000 visitors. This year the Brussels-Capital Region aims to continue with this success: the now-traditional activities will be back, along with new ones to win over curious audiences. For the whole weekend, there will be just one word in Brussels’ speech bubble: comics!

In marquees covering an area of 5000m², two times larger than in previous years, the Brussels Comic Strip Festival will welcome for the 6th time, true connoisseurs, established amateurs, families, curious visitors, and passers-by.

The Classics

Fans of the Brussels Comic Strip Festival will be satisfied: the Balloon’s Day Parade, the Tintin Rally, book signings, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and the sale of all types of comic books will once again be on offer.

The event will also host a number of novelties. One can already reveal some of them:

  • The international pavilion

The international pavilion will allow visitors to discover the multicultural richness of comic books, particularly from the Czech Republic, Korea, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Estonia and Italy.

  • Manga

For the first time this year, the Comic Book Festival will pay homage to the world of Manga, notably with the participation of the publishing house Kana as well as the Belgotaku community.

  • More and more publishing houses

Along with the usual participants in the Comic Book Festival, such as Dargaud, Dupuis, Le Lombard and so on, other big names will be taking part this year. Newcomers include, among others, Glénat, Joker and Paquet. They offer sales, entertainment and, of course, comic book signings by their authors.

Outside the marquees, Brussels will also be getting into the comic book spirit. A mini train will chug regularly around the various hubs dedicated to the ‘ninth art’ in the city: the Brussels Comic Strip Festival, the Belgian Comics Book Center, the MOOF (Museum of Original Figurines), the comic book walls, specialised book shops…

Finally, free guided comic book tours in three languages will also be on the agenda to allow visitors to discover Brussels as the World Capital of the ninth art, or for more acquainted visitors, the chance to deepen their knowledge.
