Magical sunset at Prambanan Temple

Upendra SwamiMay 7, 2016 1736 Views9

From Goa to Bali, no two sunsets are ever same- not even two sunsets at same place for two days, more so not even a sunset at same place on same day remains same even a moment later. Many a times you don't feel contented even after a beautiful sunset, you crave for more... even more. That's how I feel after every sunset. So here is a sunset at historical Prambanan temple in central Java in Indonesia. This is close to city of Yogyakarta. Well, will talk later about temples of Prambanan separately, which is largest hindu temple in Indonesia. Here, its only about this magical sunset- This particular sunset was taken from the main temple of the complex in the centre, which is a Shiva temple. We were fortunately late to reach Prambanan, hence I was able to get this sunset view from best ...

Images that define Jakarta!

Upendra SwamiMay 6, 2016 1374 Views3

Indonesia is said to be melting point of cultures, something we used to define America as. The similarity doesn’t end  here. Contrary to that, Jakarta and for that matter Indonesia as a whole defies every stereotype attached with any Islamic country. It has got all positives one can associate any country with. So, here is my collection of Jakarta’s 13 r...

Menjangan Island : West Bali’s best kept secret Dive site

Upendra SwamiSeptember 19, 2013 916 Views0

Surrounded by unspoilt white sandy beaches, stunning coral reefs, and enchanting underwater, environment Menjangan Island is a perfect definition of what natural beauty is all about. Located about 10Km North West off the shore of Bali’s mainland, the small island of Menjangan forms part of the West Bali National Park Conservation Area. The word "Menjangan" in the Javanese language means "Deer". According to Wikipedia, the name was given by the local population who observed wild deer herds swimming to the island every spring covering a distance of approx 1.2 miles. This small island is actually where diving first started seriously on Bali back in about 1978 under the sponsorship of the Indonesian Navy, when it arranged a get-together of the country’s main diving clubs -Possi, Ganesha, Nu
