The Mughal Gardens of Pinjore (near Chandigarh, India) are one of the most beautiful and oldest gardens in north India. Often compared with Brindavan Gardens of Mysore, the gardens are laid out on seven terraces which descend gradually. The main gate opens to the highest terrace. The entire garden is encircled by an embattled wall. The Gardens in their present form were designed by Fidai Khan in the 17th century. Fidai Khan was Aurangzeb's trusted lieutenant and an architect.
