TREAT THE KIDS TO A ROYAL GETAWAY

Upendra SwamiJuly 31, 2013 839 Views0

Children don’t have to be born into royalty to be treated like a prince or princess at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel. The property is giving all parents the chance to treat their kids like VIPs through the hotel’s Love Your Family package. With the package, children are welcomed in style with an exclusive dining privilege (kids eat free!), Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel coloring book and special Mickey Vision glasses. These special glasses provide children with their own unique way to watch the nightly fireworks by making Mickey Mouse appear in the lights when using them during the show. Families will also be presented with The Kid’s Guide to Orlando, where VIP kids can find the not-to-be-missed, kid-tested attractions, restaurants and shops. And what roy...

Outstanding Indian paintings come to National Museum Cardiff

Upendra SwamiJuly 31, 2013 1057 Views0

On Saturday, 27 July 2013, Visions of Mughal India: The Collection of Howard Hodgkin - an exhibition of Indian paintings from the exceptional private collection of one of Britain’s most celebrated artists, Howard Hodgkin – opened at National Museum Cardiff in Wales. The collection, never shown in Wales before, comprised most of the main types of Indian court painting that flourished during the Mughal period (c. 1550–1850) e.g. the refined naturalistic works of the imperial Mughal court; the poetic and subtly coloured paintings of the Deccani Sultanates; and the boldly drawn and vibrantly coloured styles of the Rajput kingdoms of Rajasthan and the Punjab Hills. This group of works has long been considered as one of the finest of its kind in the world. On tour from the Ashmolean Museu

Authentic Countryside

Upendra SwamiJuly 9, 2013 974 Views0

Ever fancied a short break or a longer holiday in a hideaway tucked away in a beautiful part of Mid Wales that has no electricity and relies on gas for cooking and water heating. Lighting in Straw Cottage is provided by candles and lanterns, rechargeable gaslights and a solar light. Not all mod cons are missing, however, as there is a hot shower, flushing WC, wood burner and comfortable beds. Two large sofas, a Welsh dresser, a butler’s sink and a large wooden dining table with candelabra above all help to give the Straw Cottage a welcoming and authentic feel. Nestling in a wooded glade on Ty Gwyn Farm, less than three miles from Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells, Wales, this is no ancient cottage refurbished for tourists. The cottage was built as recently as this winter by Anthon

‘Ghazalaw’ at Cardiff

Upendra SwamiJuly 2, 2013 937 Views0

WOMEX announced the first much anticipated, prestigious list of international artists selected to showcase at WOMEX 13, hosted in Cardiff this year between 23 and 27 October. The competition for the career making public showcase slots was intense, with over 850 applications from world music groups and musicians worldwide for the 60 showcase slots. It’s an impressive line up of some of the best emerging world music talent on the planet, and heading the line up of WOMEX World Music Showcases is Wales’s own singer-songwriter, Gwyneth Glyn. She will perform a set from ‘Ghazalaw’, a new collaboration with Indian Ghazal singer Tauseef Akhtar. ‘Ghazalaw’ is a fusion of Welsh folk songs and Indian ghazal, an ancient poetic form originating in 6th-century Arabic verse. In this way it shares ...

Feast of Festivals at Wales Coast Path

Upendra SwamiJune 12, 2013 1192 Views2

Wales is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It is situated to the west of England and for a small country, has a varied and dramatic landscape. It covers just over 20,720 km² - that's about half the size of Kerala. Wales is both beautiful and accessible being only a couple of hours drive from London or cities such as Birmingham and Manchester. The population is three million, with 300,000 people in Cardiff, our capital city. Four universities (of the ten in Wales) and a vibrant population fuel a cosmopolitan city atmosphere. Cardiff Castle stands at the heart of downtown and Edwardian shopping arcades (Britain's first malls) house charming one-of-a-kind shops. Wales is home to 641 castles, more than any other country in Europe. You are encouraged to visit them: climb towers, wal...
