Rishikesh is one of those places which hold a special place in my life, hence no doubt that I have a special liking for this spiritual township. My first memories of this town are from 1987 when I came here as a teenager and spent more than a week alone in search of myself. Magical colours of Rishikesh Haridwar nearby was the more heralded one always- mythologically as well as religiously. It was bigger and more accessible, but it still couldn’t make Rishikesh less attractive for me. Whenever I had a ...

It was abnormal and the jam of vehicles going towards the 'Queen of Hills' stretched for more than two kilometre on that winding hilly road. I knew that scenes would have been almost similar or worse in the Kempty falls area in the other side of the city. Although, contributing to this chaos was the fact that summer holidays were about to end in the north and weekends are the favourite times for the north Indians to hit the hills, specially the nearby ones. But still, I was more than relieved on our decision to avoid Mussoorie for this brief sojourn. More so, that we witnessed this traffic chaos when we were coming downhill and luckily escaped that when we were going to Dhanau...

Read MoreYoga has always been part of India's health consciousness, ages before the pomp and show of International Yoga day and much before the Baba's and Dev's. It has been part of physiotherapy and more significantly of the Ayurvedic treatment. So when we talk about places like wellness resort of Kairali (in Palakkad district of Kerala), Yoga is not special but the part of the daily routine. And, when the atmosphere is so serene, then who is not going to enjoy a stretch! ...
