Aiming to be among top five travel destinations, the West Bengal hopes that its two ambitious projects – Jharkali in Sundarbans and Gajoldoba near Siliguri would help improve the tourist inflow. West Bengal currently ranks ninth in tourism with tourist inflow of nearly 24 million per annum, and is looking to scale up inbound visitors upto 30 million over next two years.
Jharkhali in Sundarban and Gajoldoba near Siliguri, shall be developed as multi tasking tourism hubs. The two ambitious projects are expected to attract investments upto Rs 5,000 crore. Land and infrastructure will be provided by the government, while eco-system for tourism promotion will be developed by private players on PPP model. Gajoldoba, 35 kilometres east of Siliguri, is part of Terai-dooars forest circuit, and is being developed as tourism hub, offering opportunities for investment.
Jharkhali, another major tourism promotion project will be developed as eco tourism park. West Bengal has a lot to offer to the tourists from the Eastern Himalayan parts to the breathtaking Dooars valley to the vast ecology of the Sunderbans. It offers helicopter ride, cruise facility, in the city of joy.
If Jharkhali and Gajoldoba both places can become highly attractive, it will become huge tourist attraction among people. The tourism section of India will be hugely beneficial from these tourist places.
You are right Toby, thanks a lot.
Promotion of Jharkhali in multi tasking tourism hub is a giant step to revolutionize the local socio-economic developmental change. a good transport system and different good quality hotels and resorts and travelling boats and lonches are available here. Its scenic beauty is also attractive. Already tourists started to visit Jharkhali and Sundarban Tiger Reserve Camps from here. Good job and I like this development. Good post you placed. Thanks
