Singapore Flyer with a different eye

Upendra SwamiJuly 18, 2015 2331 Views10

Singapore Flyer or Singapore Eye as it is fondly called as to beat London Eye is now the second largest ferris wheel in world (it was largest till year ago). Located in the Marina Bay area flyer with a height of 165 metres is a moving experience, a delight for the tourists coming to Singapore and also to photographers, with so many shades, angles and views for the shutterbugs. Few of mine favourites- ...

Myriad colours of a sunrise

Upendra SwamiJune 16, 2015 1896 Views4

How to celebrate the announcement that my blog has been included in list of Top Travel Bloggers of India by Holidify.com (http://www.holidify.com/blog/top-travel-bloggers-india/)? What better could be than to post a another beautiful photo story (my blog is in list of Top Photo Blogs). Photographing sun is one of my favourite photo works. This one was recently done and where else than the place which I consider as one of the best places in India to view a sunrise- Kausani (in Kumaon region of Himalayan state Uttarakhand). Whether or not there is a clear blue sky to let golden hue of Trishul and Nanda Devi peaks mesmerise you, but sunrise here will definitely throw some amazing colours. Astonishing drawings-   You will always be surprised by the beauty, how the moun...

Photo of the day – The light within!

Upendra SwamiApril 11, 2015 2388 Views6

The beauty of this photo is also the character itself. Sonali Mahapatra is performing Oddissi at Khajuraho festival of dances 2015. An accomplished dancer, Sonali lost her major hearing power due to a medical negligence when she was just five. But she never let that come as a hinderance in her commitment to learn dance. She can't listen to swara and hence now uses a hearing aid and dances by listening to just the beats of the taal. ...

Photo of the day- Far & High

Upendra SwamiDecember 23, 2014 1267 Views2

Coconuts are refreshing as well as challenging. Once you are in Kerala, you will find coconuts everywhere- around you on trees to almost everything you eat and also put on your body. Equally challenging is to bring them down from the trees. Whatever it may be, the make a good sight nevertheless. ...

Photo of the day- A colony in clouds

Upendra SwamiOctober 30, 2014 1242 Views4

A tent colony in clouds or on the edge of a cliff! A scene not common, considering the fact that this is at an altitude of almost 13 thousand feets, deep inside one of the most beautiful Himalayan interiors and at one of the most fascinating meadows- Bedni Bugyal. Not so common scene also because it would be next seen at least after 12 years, when next Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra takes place. Only then again thousands of pilgrims (this time they were more than 20 thousand) will be reaching here and so many tents would be needed to accommodate them. A magnificent sight terrifying at the same time!! ...

A rising sun’s tryst with clouds

Upendra SwamiOctober 13, 2014 893 Views0

Sun's amazing. Even when it is not so bright. At times it has to fight it out with clouds to show its real strength. What a beauty nature brings out of this battle too! Here for you to see- (shot at Ranikhet in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, known for its beautiful sunrises and excellent Himalayan views)  ...

Bugyali horses are very famous and watching a few galloping at a place no other than Aali Bugyal at an altitude of 13K fts could be so fascinating. Not a perfect silhouette though, still worth an eyeful! ...

Upendra SwamiSeptember 11, 2014 1169 Views5

A double rainbow as seen from Aali Bugyal at an altitude of more than 13 thousand feet in himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Aali Bugyal is just 3 kms from all popular Bedini Bugyal in Nanda Devi region of Uttarakhand Himalayas. Aali is a beautiful bugyal with a lot of yet to be explored skiing opportunities in winter. View of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul peaks from here on a clear morning is just amazing. Bedini bugyal is just 13 kms trek from nearest road head at Waan. Aali is further 3 km on the ridge. A must see place. ...

Photogallery – Pinjore Gardens at night

Upendra SwamiJuly 30, 2014 2590 Views4

The Mughal Gardens of Pinjore (near Chandigarh, India) are one of the most beautiful and oldest gardens in north India. Often compared with Brindavan Gardens of Mysore, the gardens are laid out on seven terraces which descend gradually. The main gate opens to the highest terrace. The entire garden is encircled by an embattled wall. The Gardens in their present form were designed by Fidai Khan in the 17th century. Fidai Khan was Aurangzeb's trusted lieutenant and an architect. He had also built the Badshahi Mosque at Lahore. As a governor of Punjab, he visited this place and got fascinated. He then planned this garden. ...
