Silver sand dunes and a double humpy ride

Upendra SwamiOctober 15, 2018 1077 Views0

Silver coloured sand dunes of Hunder in Nubra valley of Ladakh have gradually become a part of the must-see itinerary for tourists to Ladakh. Its a very unusual landscape, no doubt about it. In a single frame, you can see sand dunes, river, forest as well as snow clad peaks. You even have camels for desert safari, albeit double humped ones. Its a rugged landscape all around, but Hunder seems like out of world for this region. It has got so many colours and textures in one place, that you can't stop admiring. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoeBAPYHXwH/?taken-by=swamiupendra Colours of nature! These sunsets never fail to amaze you whether it is in hot deserts of Thar or cold deserts of Ladakh. You can see the Karakoram ranges in the background, behind whichnot too far is located the hi...

Reflecting the mighty himalayas : Photo of the Day

Upendra SwamiOctober 7, 2016 1332 Views4

Reflecting the Himalayas in the Nubra valley of Ladakh. Ladakh is actually lot more than just Leh. The last permissible point in Nubra valley is Turtuk which is more than 200 kms away from Leh. But the highlight of the Nubra valley is Hunder sand dunes near Deskit. People go there for riding the double humped camels. Right close to dunes is the section of Karakoram wildlife sanctuary where you can see scenes like this. Marvellous. Isn’t it! The dunes, the pool, the forest and the Himalayas! The stillness of water can make or break your photo! ...

Photographing sunsets or sunrises is normally all photographers' favourite pastime. They can do it almost endlessly at every dawn and dusk. So has been the case with me. And when the charm is to capture the last sunset of the year, then you don't want to blink, just to click... click... click. Sand dunes at Sam near Jaisalmer (almost 35 kms from city) in Rajasthan are actually known for their fascinating sunsets. Sunset here shows, how romantic even deserts can be. ...

Photo of the Day – Precise Cut

Upendra SwamiOctober 24, 2013 1032 Views2

A lonely tree in desert of Thar in Rajasthan, India. And so precisely cut leaves! Why? Any guess? Not a manly work at all. It is the work of camels who have simply eaten up everything that is within reach of their long necks... Neat work. Isn't it. This is few kilometres away from Jaisalmer in core of Thar... ...
