मध्य प्रदेश में कान्हा टाइगर रिजर्व को कई मायने में बांधवगढ़ का जुड़वां भी कहा जाता है। साल व बांस के जंगल, घास के मैदान, जलधाराएं, ये सब घोड़े की नाल की शक्ल वाली घाटी में फैले 940 वर्ग किलोमीटर के इस पार्क को शक्ल देती हैं। इसे 1974 में प्रोजेक्ट टाइगर के तहत गठित किया गया था। मांडला व बालाघाट जिलों की मैकाल रेंज में स्थित यह पार्क सूखी जमीन पर रहने वाले दुर्लभ बारहसिंघा की गिनी-चुनी जगहों में से एक माना जाता है। यहां की खूबसूरती, व्यवस्था और वन्य जीवों के संरक्षण की बदौलत इसे एशिया क सबसे बेहतरीन नेशनल पार्को में से एक माना जाता है। वन्यप्रेमियों के लिए यह बड़ा आकर्षण है। 1930 के दशक तक कान्हा दो अभयारण्यों में बंटा था और ये दोनों इस इलाके की दो प्रमुख नदियों हेलोन व बंजार के नाम पर थे। यहां के इलाके में पठारों के अलावा समतल तले वाली घाटियां भी हैं। पानी से उनकी मिट्टी चिकनी हो जाती...
